Why Teach Mindfulness for Life?

Mindfulness for Life is a research-backed course designed for the general population to flourish and find joy through awareness of the body, mind, and emotions. The course aims to promote well-being, kindness, and resilience by providing skills to navigate life’s challenges and to foster an appreciation for positive moments. By doing so, Mindfulness for Life helps individuals respond more skillfully to life’s ups and downs.

What Can I Learn in a Train to Teach Mindfulness for Life for MBSR & MBCT Teachers course?

For MBSR and MBCT teachers who already possess a strong foundation in mindfulness principles and teaching methods and want to teach Mindfulness for Life, this training focuses solely on the new and distinct aspects of the curriculum that require additional knowledge or skills. By participating in this extension or branch-point in their training, teachers can expand their expertise, diversify their offerings, and continue to meet the evolving needs of their students. This training eliminates the need for a full-length training course to teach related mindfulness programs.

For those who wish to teach Mindfulness for Life, but do not have MBSR or MBCT teaching experience, please see the Multi-Course Certificate to Teach: A One Year Intensive.

More about...

For MBSR Teachers: Train to Teach Mindfulness for Life, A 6-Day Course

This teacher training supports certified MBSR teachers who have taught a minimum of 6 MBSR classes to better understand the theoretical and empirical foundations for Mindfulness for Life, the structure and sequence of the curriculum, and learn how to teach key practices and exercises. This includes cognitive-behavioral exercises, appreciation and befriending practices, and a working with difficulty practice. It also includes discussion of how breathing spaces are used and how inquiry is conducted in Mindfulness for Life.

It is assumed that all students are experienced teachers of the practices that are part of both Mindfulness for Life and MBSR (raisin practice, body scan, sitting practices, mindful movement) as there is no additional training provided in these practices. Training in the basic 3-step breathing space is included for those without previous training in this practice and is optional for those who already include breathing spaces in their teaching.
